The Indomitable Spirit of Bennie Hayes

Bright and vivacious BENNIE HAYES wants to do something to help the war effort, so she takes a job at a WWII plane factory two months before she plans to marry. When a close coworker is found dead on the grounds near the plant, local police quickly rule it a suicide. But Bennie and her work partner Margaret are certain she was murdered. They seek the help of an uncouth private detective who sees a spark of talent in Bennie—not to mention, their chemistry is undeniable. As they begin to unravel a web of secrets that lead them to the killer, they also discover a sabotage plot that threatens the aviation plant. Bennie must race against the clock to save the plant before it’s too late. Then the detective makes her a business offer that forces her to decide between the traditional life she had planned, and the one she was meant to live.
